How to Trust God in a Spiritual Dry Season (Even When Nothing Blooms)
“He gives the barren woman a home, making her the joyous mother of children. Praise the Lord!” — Psalm 113:9
Have you ever been in a season where everything feels… dry?
Your prayers echo back in silence. Your faith feels shaky. You look around, and nothing seems to be growing. It’s like the garden of your life has gone still, and you wonder if God is even paying attention.
If that’s you, sister, I want you to know:
You’re not alone.
You’re not faithless.
And you’re not forgotten.
This might just be your spiritual dry season—but even here, God is doing more than you can see.
What Is a Spiritual Dry Season?
A spiritual dry season is a time when God feels distant and growth seems stalled.
You might be showing up to church, opening your Bible, whispering prayers—but nothing stirs in your soul. You feel stuck, tired, even guilty for not “feeling it.”
But let me say this with love:
Faith isn’t a feeling. It’s a decision to keep showing up, even when it’s dry.
These seasons are not punishment. They’re invitations.

Why God Allows These Seasons
Dry seasons have always been part of the faith journey.
Think of Elijah hiding in the wilderness.
David crying out in the caves.
Even Jesus spent 40 days in the desert—alone, tempted, hungry.
Sometimes God removes the noise so we can hear Him more clearly.
Sometimes He allows silence so our roots go deeper.
Sometimes when nothing blooms, He’s cultivating faith beneath the surface.
“I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.” — Isaiah 43:19
What to Do When Nothing Blooms
Here are simple, grace-filled ways to walk through a spiritual dry season:
1. Keep showing up.
Faithfulness doesn’t require fireworks. Stay rooted in prayer, even if it feels dull.
2. Journal the silence.
Pour your heart out in words. Let God meet you there.
3. Speak truth, not feelings.
Declare what God’s Word says, even if your emotions disagree.
4. Revisit past miracles.
Remind yourself of how He’s moved before—because He’s not done.
5. Worship anyway.
Put on the song. Raise your hands. Praise breaks dry ground.
He’s Still Working (Even If You Can’t See It)
I know it’s hard. But silence doesn’t mean absence.
Stillness doesn’t mean abandonment.
Dry ground doesn’t mean you’ve failed.
God works beneath the surface. He refines in the waiting.
And when the season shifts—you’ll look back and realize:
He never stopped loving you.
He never stopped leading you.
He was growing something deep all along.
