30 Christian Affirmations for Women Who Forgot Who They Are

I used to think affirmations were kind of a joke, honestly — something you say to a mirror hoping repetition turns it true. Then I hit a stretch where I genuinely didn’t know what was true about me anymore, and I realized the problem was never affirmations as a concept. It was that I’d been affirming the wrong things on repeat for years without ever calling it that. I’m behind. I always do this. I’m too much. Said enough times, that’s an affirmation too, just an ugly one.

So I started over, on purpose, with words that weren’t mine to begin with. That’s really the difference — you’re not talking yourself into anything. You’re agreeing out loud with something that was already true before you believed it.

Here are 30 Christian affirmations I’ve actually said over myself, each tied to a verse worth sitting with instead of skimming.

How to actually use these

Pick one a week, not all thirty at once — that’s just noise. Put it somewhere you’ll actually see it, your mirror, your lock screen, the inside cover of whatever journal you’re using. I wear mine — a Bound by His Love necklace does the same job around my neck that a sticky note does on a mirror, just harder to ignore by 3pm. Say it out loud if you can. Hearing your own voice say something true does something reading it silently doesn’t.

You didn’t forget who you are on purpose. Something louder just got there first. If you want the fuller story behind #3, I wrote about it in Identity in Christ. These thirty are here to turn the volume back up on the voice that was always telling the truth.
